LED LIGHT THERAPY
LED Light Therapy
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which is a computer chip encased in a glass-like resin, which emits therapeutic wavelengths (or colors) of light energy. Not to be confused with laser, the light therapy was originally developed to fast-track the healing of wounds and post-surgery scars. The rejuvenation of healthy skin was an added benefit. If the therapeutic light energy is in the correct wavelength, the cells in the dermis layer of skin will convert that light energy into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the fuel that the cell uses to do its job. The fibroblast cells in the dermis layer have the job of producing collagen (which give the skin fullness) and elastin (which gives the skin the ability to bounce back). Thus, when used consistently, LED gives the cells a ‘full tank of fuel’ and these fibroblast cells start to produce collagen and elastin at a more efficient rate. Therefore, LED is great for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving uneven skin tone, reducing pores size, reducing acne and brightening the skin.
The recommended professional LED protocol is six treatments a week or two apart, followed by a maintenance treatment every month or two. LED treatments are painless and relaxing, and in winter have a side benefit of counteracting Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Treatment times vary anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes.
LED Light Therapy can be used simultaneously with other treatments such as a facial or Vitamin IV Therapy, or by itself. LED Light Therapy Treatment is performed on clean, make-up free skin in a private spa environment and may range in duration from 30 minutes to 90 minutes for combined therapies.
